BitTyrant is a BitTorrent client based on modifications to Azureus. It is a free, multi-platform programme designed to give preference to clients who upload files quickly while limiting those who do so slowly. The Azureus modification significantly improves the performance and download speeds, providing up to 70% improvement on standard BitTorrent clients.
BitTorrent was originally designed to perform impartially, so if a user downloads at 30 KBps, they should upload at 30 KBps. In reality, however, this is not always the case. BitTyrant is designed to make efficient use of the upload bandwidth, rewarding users with a greater propensity for sharing with increased download speeds.
Leechers, as they are known in BitTyrant, will generally find their download speed decreased. Having said that, if all the clients are BitTyrant, they are used efficiently, allowing improved download speeds for everyone. The interface is very similar to Azureus, so handling is no problem when it comes to recognising functions.
