Hello everyone: There is a poem I learned back in 1955 about two seeds. Parts of it are still in my memory. I would love to get all the lines. It goes, "Little brown brother, oh, little brown brother, are you asleep in the night. Will you be a daisey, just like my brother , little brown brother, good night."

It's by Edith Nesbit, poppies not daisies.

Baby Seed Song,
by Edith Nesbit, 1858-1924

Little brown brother, oh! little brown brother,
Are you awake in the dark?
Here we lie cosily, close to each other:
Hark to the song of the lark
"Waken!" the lark says, "waken and dress you;
Put on your green coats and gay,
Blue sky will shine on you, sunshine caress you
Waken! 'tis morning 'tis May!"
Little brown brother, oh! little brown brother,
What kind of a flower will you be?
I'll be a poppy all white, like my mother;
Do be a poppy like me.
What! You're a sunflower! How I shall miss you
When you're grown golden and high!
But I shall send all the bees up to kiss you;
Little brown brother, good-bye.

My God! It has been 50 years since I have read this poem in its entirety. I have been carrying remnants of this poem in my mind for a half century and now you have provided the complete poem. A thousand thanks is in order, but if you live in Connecticut or Rhode Island, my wife and I will buy you the biggest ice cream sundae you have ever seen. I will attempt to memorize the poem as our class did in 1955. Thank you Les.

No problem, there's a Dairy Queen here in town, just mail me a small gift certificate and I'll have a Blizzard on your behalf.

Les. It will be done, as soon as I can get out of these woods and into a city.
