"4 legs good
2 legs bad"
I'm not sure whether or not this is from an actual poem. Could someone tell me what book it is from?
Not a poem, a novel:

Reminds me of the old Mule Song:
On mules we find two legs behind
And two we find before;
We stand behind before we find
What the two behind be for.
When we're behind the two behind
We find what these be for;
So stand before the two behind
Behind the two before.
What you are thinking of, is from the Novel - Animal Farm by George Orwell which is a satire on the communist regime of the 2nd WW. The actual phrase is "Two legs good, 4 legs bad"
At the begining it is "four legs good, two legs bad". By the end Squealer has this amended to "four legs good, two legs better"
And it wasn't WW II that inspired the book, but his experiences in the Spansh civil war.

Brendon, the entire novel can be read online. I'd be interested to see the page of your source:
