I'm hoping someone can help me with a 40+ year search for a treasured published poem. The name of the poem is "Two Little Tears", written by Joyce Haydel of Lutcher High School, Lutcher, Louisiana between the years 1944-45 and published in the Annual Anthology of High School Poetry by the National High School Poetry Association. She also received a letter (not dated) from the Poetry Society of America stating this poem had been selected for publication in the National Poetry Anthology of the Poetry Society of America. The letter says "the anthology is a compilation of the finest poetry written by the youth of America representing every State in the Country. Selections were made from thousands of poems written in 1944-1945." Over the years the book that contained the poem was lost and some verses of the poem forgotten. I have searched hundreds of library websites around the country, rare book dealers, Library of Congress, Louisiana State University, etc. and have been unable to locate either of these 2 publications. Since this was a high school poetry contest, I am wondering if perhaps one of you around the country may have also had a poem published during those years in one of the anthologies and may still have possession of your own book. If so, I would be very grateful to get a transcript of the poem verses from you.
The poem was written about me by my aunt, Louisiana cajun folk artist, Joyce (Haydel) Bedell when she was a student at Lutcher High School. Would be wonderful if we could find it. We would appreciate any help you and your readers can give us in our search for this treasured poem.
My email is ceast_2000@yahoo.com if you have any questions or need any further information. Many many thanks.
