Does anyone know where this little ditty comes from? I came across it years ago as a child but have never seen it since.

The Doob

The doob's a happy little thing,
In summertime it loves to sing,
But when it's cold it stays in bed
And plays the gramophone instead.

Never seen it before, but I do like it! Thank's for posting it.

Could be Lear - it's his style and he;d talk about gramphones rather than record players etc - right period.

It's the right period but I don't think it was Lear. I used to have a book of his collected works (wish I still had it!) but I am sure it wasn't in there. I think I would have remembered it.
