Hey, I am searching for poetry analysis on No More Boomerang and Understand Old One by Oodgeroo Noonuccal.
It is and English assignment that I just can't seem to wrap my head around.

Planning Response- Explain brief biological details. Introduce the issue being expressed in the poetry and explain why this issue was/is significant for the poet(cultural/historical background)
Explain the relevance of the use for today's youth.

thoroughly analyze the construction of the poetry. Identify the poet's view on the issue and explain how this view has been conveyed. Explain your opinion of the poets view on the issue.

Make a judgment on whether or not this poet deserves to be honored as an icon for the youth of today. Clearly explain your judgment.

Obviously i don't want you to completely do the assignment. I can get her bio details and introduce the issue(the development of society and the difference of then and now) but I just can't get my head into the analyzing part.
This is my intro so far:
The problem with poetry lies in the way people think if it. Our first impression of poetry is that it is a boring, pointless and difficult exercise. By joining the stereotypical view of poetry, society is unknowingly pushing poetry back until today youth has grown up thinking poetry isn't cool. Poetry ranges from humorousness to the struggles of human lives(gained from the poets experiences). Containing historical content, poems show and insight to our past from wards to the way people used to live-simple. By composing poetry, the poet is realizing his/her emotions and creating a realm in which the reader can experience many varied emotions and valuable insight into the poets life. Whilst the poet uses poetry as a way to express themselves and their personal feelings at the time of the writing, they also allow thousands of people across the world to gain insight into their minds. Although poetry is a simple art, one persons words can have hundreds of meanings depending on the iven person reading the poetry.

Any help at all would be appreciated ( including poetic devices for both poems)
