Is there is any painting that accurately captures the essence, themes, ideas of John Foulcher's poem Summer Rain?
The poem is below:
At 4 o'clock, cars
clutter on the highway like abacus beads.
No one dares overtake.
Sunlight scrawls
through the dust and the fumes,
and the shadows slap at the edge of the grass.
Somewhere ahead, there's been an accident.
One by one, the engines
stop, the cars slump into dusk.
You wrench yourself from the road,
sift the dark trees
for diversion.
Sub-division houses - teacups
of colour from television sets,
steam rising from ovens
and showers
like mist across a swampland. The cricket sound
of voices and cutlery.
Only the children
stay outside, bruised with dirt
and school, squeezing play
from the tattered edges of the afternoon.
In the darkness, they grow
to be heroes, clash in the park
like cars on a highway,
pound out grudges
tight as steel. At last, they slacken
home forgetfully.
As the wreck is cleared, rain trembles
acress the cars
and the charred, unbroken road.
Thanks in advance
It seems very unlikely, since poetry and painting are such different art forms.
The first step in addressing the question should surely to identify the essence, themes and ideas of the poem.
And since such things are largely matters of subjective personal opinion, I suggest you lead off, zxcvbnm [is that pronounced rowbotham?], by saying what you regard as the essence, themes and ideas of 'Summer Rain'.

'Martin and the hand grenade'
Martin displays the grenade, the class pauses
for history. With his father's bleak skill
Martin edges out the firing pin, indicates
the chamber where the powder went; he fingers
the serrations, bristles with the shrapnel
possibilites. Questions. No-it had limited
power: ten yards, then the spread
became too loose to catch a man's mortality.
Around the class now. And each boy holds
the small war, lifts it into the air
above the desk trenches: the dead weapon hurls
across mind fields, tears the heart ahead
sorry but can u plz help me to know the purpose of this poem and what message is the writer trying to send to the audience thank u very much
Lara,
You would have been more likely get a response if you started a separate thread for your request, using the name of the poem.
'Martin and the Hand Grenade' has been discussed before in Emule. For instance, go here:

You can find the other threads if you use the Search function at the top of this thread, and search for Hand Grenade as a whole phrase in Messages, for all dates.
