if anyone knows the meaning of this poem it will help me so much to understand its meaning. the connotations used. what each line means. please help. the poem goes like this:
Already you are mine. Rest with your dream in my dream.
Love ,pain, work must sleep now.
Night sins on its invisible wheels
and next to me you are pure as amber asleep.

No one else, my love, will sleep with my drems.
you will go, we will go together through the waters of time.
No one else will journey through the shadow with me.
Only you, always in flower, always sun, always moon.

Already your hands have opened your delicate fits
and let fall soft, aimless signs,
your eyes closed like two gray wings.

While I follow the water you carry and carries me:
The night, the workld, the wind wind up their destiny,
and without you I am nothing but your dream.

Please if anyone can help that will be great. Is for my english class thanks:
Yasiris

It's a translation, and some of the lines above seem strange. Here is another rendition:

Already, you are mine. Rest with your dream inside my dream.
Love, grief, labour, must sleep now.
Night revolves on invisible wheels
and joined to me you are pure as sleeping amber.

No one else will sleep with my dream, love.
You will go we will go joined by the waters of time.
No other one will travel the shadows with me,
only you, eternal nature, eternal sun, eternal moon.

Already your hands have opened their delicate fists
and let fall, without direction, their gentle signs,
you eyes enclosing themselves like two grey wings,

while I follow the waters you bring that take me onwards:
night, Earth, winds weave their fate, and already,
not only am I not without you, I alone am your dream.

It's got 14 lines, stanzas separated 4-4-3-3, so let's assume it is a Petrarchan sonnet in his original language. It's a love poem, right. Sounds like he may be talking to a lover who lies beside him in bed. The scan is yucky in the translation, but I have not seen the original, which I assume is much better. Have to pass on the line-by-line explication, thanks anyway.

Hugh, line 11 a typo, first word should be "your" instead of "you".

I don't believe that the lovers are together- except in dreams. That, 'Already you are mine,' sounds like love from a distance- you belong to me, even though you don't know me.
