As a part of my project, I'm trying to find several poems that illustrate certain terms. I need to find at least two poems that demonstrate understatement and two that are extended metaphors. I've had no luck simply browsing through anthologies, and as for any poems I do find that fit, none would capture the interest of high schoolers. Will you please at least help point me in the right direction? I would really appreciate names of poems or even authors that you feel would meet the qualifications. Thank you for all your help!
