I suppose it could be a sort of psychology test. Send your class scurrying to dictionaries, and to the web for mythology references, and see how each handles it, and what they return with. I found lots of interesting stuff about Taliessin and his prophecies, and Scottish kelpies, etc. Didn't think of Proteus unaided, though in retrospect the clues are there. How did Hugh do it originally?
