"'Ere thrice the sun done salutation to the dawn"

Anybody who knows where this line comes from? The Smith's have used it in one of their songs and I would like to know where they got it from.

I've always been curious about this. I searched Richard III and the closest I could find was this: "Ratcliff, my lord; 'tis I. The early village-cock Hath twice done salutation to the morn;"
