I have to do a project on despairing and i am using the poem the Raven by Poe. I needed some clarification of the ending and of the despairing tone present in the poem.

Both of you, please post the poem. That might help a bit.

Most are familiar with Poe's Raven, I think, but can 'despairing' be a noun or an adjective? Doesn't sound right to me. Despondent, I would think, for the adjective, and straight despair for the noun.

Seems an easy topic, though. What part of the ending is unclear? If I remember correctly, he wrote that part first, so the rest should lead up to it.

I love the 'pallid-Pallas' line.

pam

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamplight o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the
floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted- nevermore!

I need to know the poets attitude toward life, and how the poet uses language and imagery in the poem "Song" by christina rossetti

Song

When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
And if thou wilt, forget.

I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on, as if in pain:
And dreaming through the twilight
That doth not rise nor set,
Haply I may remember,
And haply may forget.
