To my daughter

The love and desire
of every childhood
is to remember, laugh
as oceans sometimes do,
enjoyed, not wept.
The trial and tribulations
of such a pure thought
of mind, is never given
its due, it is always taken
for granted.

Sometimes when my
thoughts, my hate
runs away from me
and pursues you,
all I can hope is
that you still love me.
Other times words from
my mouth are not
neccessarly from
my mind, but they
harm never the less.
In deep religious
hindsight, do I
repent and digress.

My daughter,
your daddy
loves you.
He is just a
sad man at heart.
While he wants
what is best
for you, he
never knows
where to begin,
he never knows
where to start.
My daughter
your daddy
loves you and while
he's made many
mistakes.
He shall expend
a thousand I love you's
To banish one hate.

And in the end when
your smile warms my day,
this old man's heart
pumps liquid chocolate,
feeling a sweet tooth
coming his way.
And it shall all be
worth it, yes priceless
indeed, for your
daddy is your knight
in shining armour
and his love, be your steed.

This is sweet and honest Steve. I don't think there's one parent alive that hasn't made mistakes.

Though your faults be many, your sins have been forgiven.
Love conquers all, so let go and let love.

Your daughter is very fortunate to have such a father's love

Steve--this is from the heart! Your daughter is lucky to have a father who can express his feelings of love and enlightenment. I have been told that the real plan in life is--that parents and children start out real swell--then as the kids grow older--(ya know, with minds of their own) you have this period of time where there is a lot of power energy--and sometimes they just downright annoy the heck out of you--the reason for this is, when they are ready to leave the nest---you are then truly willing to let them go--cause they have been driving you nuts.....just a little humor--------

and my favorite thing to say to my children---I love you, even so!!...I would hope they can say the same to me.....

Great work, Steve. May I ask how old your daughter is?

Thank you kindly...ladies for your kind response to this peticular poem.
Yes they do sometimes drive you maddly with their tireless energy, but too soon they grow and be gone and forget to wrap arms around you.

My Daughters name is Rochelle and she is 12 years old, born on christmas day.......not a bad bone in her body with a loving heart as wide open space. And I need to remind my self of that occassionaly.....

Rochelle is a pretty name smiling smiley Congratulations on raising such a wonderful girl. Has she seen this poem yet? Does she like poetry? I think she's going to like this a lot, especially when she's older, around my age (17, 18). This is such great work; it's so honest and true... I think she'll love you for it.
