Pondering
I sat on the deck
Of a cruising ship
Headed to
Exotic places,
Sipping a drink-
Having removed the
Umbrella
And placing it next to
The growing bouquet
From other drinks
That came before-
And, I once more,
Set my gaze on the
Green ocean under my
Dangling feet
And wondered at the hues
Change to blue as my
Eyes wandered to the horizon
Where the setting sun paused
Before sinking into the vast
Ocean that will soon
Reflect the night sky and its
Blanket of stars broken
By the round glow of the moon;
I felt your hand cover mine
To remind me that I was not alone
In that wondrous place,
That, I will always remember
As something we shared
While celebrating our life together;
This memory
Will cause me to smile-
Once again.

Betcha can't say it out loud. You need some 'breath catchers' in there.
You would be amazed at what I can do before a breath catcher.....
however--added a pause or two-
Pondering
I sat on the deck
Of a cruising ship
Headed to
Exotic places,
Sipping a drink-
Having removed the
Umbrella
And placing it next to
The growing bouquet
From other drinks
That came before-
And, I once more,
Set my gaze on the
Green ocean under my
Dangling feet,
And, wondered at the hues
Change to blue as my
Eyes wandered to the horizon-
The setting sun paused
Before sinking into the vast
Ocean , that will soon
Reflect the night sky and its
Blanket of stars broken
By the round glow of the moon;
I felt your hand cover mine
To remind me that I was not alone
In that wondrous place,
That, I will always remember
As something we shared
While celebrating our life together;
This memory
Will cause me to smile-
Once again.

Very nice and relaxing message el, I just made all stressed and troubles fade in cool, soft words. The style is not my favorite, but very good subject and vocabulary.
Cheers!

Holding Mercury--I was feeling dreary--and pulled up a good memory--made me feel better...........thanks Ell
I have never been on a cruise, you made it sound inviting.
JP
There is a group of friends here who go on a cruise about every two years. So far all have gone except us.
Six months of the year I live in a travel trailer, or a motel room. I am away from home.
Six months of the year I sleep in my own bed, and have my own shop. My land is 1320 ft, by 990 ft. That's thirty acres. That's one million, three hundred six thousand, eight hundred square feet. The TOTAL deck space on any cruise ship I've heard about is less than that. A lot less.
My wife, three dogs, one very wild cat and I live on this million point three plot of land.
3,000 or more will be on less space than that on a cruise ship, the cabin will be small, it will not be my bed, my shop will not be near, I will not be home, I will not go.
My idea of a perfect cruise is me, my wife, one dog, sixty or more feet of some sailing vessel and the ocean. The hardest question I have ever been asked is, "Right at this instant, would you rather be raising sails in Tahiti, or dropping sails in Tahiti?"
but, you have told the story of the sea well. Please continue.
Terry
Terry-
I went on seven cruises, but that was when I was a kid. 425 ft. long, 3 decks, no pool, no sun. 120 'passengers', always hungry.
The good part was it beat gettin' shot at by strangers, and it was all FREE!
Jack
Hey JP--twas my first one and only cruise--that was year and a half ago--we went on a cruise to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary---twas a wonderful time-------
Hey Terry---ok ok I get your drift---this city girl went on a ship that was a "fun ship"-I did not have to talk on the phone for 7 peaceful days--the most relaxed I have ever been --and was like a hugh glitzy haven- but-not where you have to wear tuxedos---we only "dressed" for dinner--drank in the piano bar--comedy shows--gambling--met lots of wonderful people---relaxed on the deck---we don't sun bathe---we sat in the cool shade with our umbrella drinks---and we visited places I have never been--Jamaica--went down the Martha Brae River on a raft with our own boatman and sang Raggae-Caymen Islands-Mayan Ruins-spent very little time in our cabin---NOT for everyone--tis true--but for 7 days--was a great get away---my husband wants to go on a sailing vessel---but we would take someone with us who knew how to sail---hmmmm---just to be on the safe side-
and Jack--my adventure sounds better than yours!!
Ell

Ell
Nicely done, Ell. I wonder how I ever missed this one.
Les
I'm glad you brought this back up. It's brilliant as always. Never expected anything less.
You know the bad thing about leaving and coming back a million times is that I never know what I've missed. So, thanks Les.
