what if, suddenly, there were no illicit drug abuse
less alchohol, to numb or deaden our collective pain
poised to deal with our suppressed hurts, anxieties
what would then be the profit, our possible gain?
would we at long last, be spurred to finally begin
to really open up, be truly more up front emotionally
develop our abilities to really, effectively, communicate
refusing to hide, escape, our responsibilities relationally.

My friend once tried to explain to me that alcohol is sometimes necessary to socialize, because some people are too shy, and liquor opens them up. I think that's probably the sickest thing I've ever heard.
The fact that liquor is used for social purposes is a joke. The beer companies are laughing all the way to the bank.
hi athenian,
i'm in no way trying to be or espousing prohibitionism, but advocating a far more sensible, intelligent consumption of any conciousness altering substance. ...that we begin to see and treat our bodies as the "temples" they're really created to be; and that we might be and become true spiritual beings having an human experience, poised to truly transform our world.
indeed, thanks for taking time to reflect on this and your thoughful commentary.
namaste,
