A Poem for My Love

I try not to remember you
erase you from my mind.
Forget you ever exsisted
try to break our bind.

Then I see you in the hall
don't stop; don't talk to me.
It's hard enough to forget your voice
everywhere I look, your face is all I see.

Now I am alone without you
all my dreams I wanted you to fulfill.
I try not to think: If you don't even
want me, then nobody ever will.

It's difficult enough to pick up one's life and begin moving on with the memories of our last relationship all around us. I like your poem, but found the last two lines a little sad, that's a trap we should all stay clear of.

For you Kiki-

After awhile you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul.

And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning
And company doesn’t mean security.

And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts
And presents aren’t promises.

And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes ahead
With the grace of a woman or man
Not with the grief of a child.

And you learn to build your roads on today
Because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

And after awhile you learn
That even sunshine burns if you ask too much.

So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn
That you really can endure
That you really are strong
That you really do have worth.

And you learn…
And you learn…
With every failure
You learn.

My God. Can I just take a moment to say WOW! To both poems. Very well done Kiki, anyone who reads this can feel it. Bravo. Very expressive, and impressive. Thank you for sharing.

I didn't write this one Kiki, don't know who did, just thought you'd like it, JP

The first: Very simple, yet beautiful in its simplicity...I appreciate it. But the "Re" is something like warm stormwind in the face. Gracious and kneeling thanks to JP. This is it...you spoke to me.
