A Couple of Lines
I thought I'd like to write you
a couple of lines,
nothing monumental;
I thought I'd just
spend a few moments
contemplating the scheme of things
and jot my ideas down on paper.
Lately, I've been thinking
about how nicely life fits
into couplets and quatrains...
But then you looked at me
with that fathomless gaze.
And I found myself melting
into the oblivion of your smile...
and the infinity of your soul
slapped me right across the face.

It is an awakening, isn't it, when the richness of the people around us shocks us into attending to our own limits, especially when we've lost sight of those limits.
Very nice piece, Les.

Peter, surprisingly, this is not the poem I sat down to write. There's another little ditty which I've been mulling over for weeks sitting in the empty chasm of my cranium. But when I sat down and started typing this one arose. Crazy how that happens some times.
Thanks for the read and the comment.

That happens to me also so often. I sit down to write something and something else gets said.
Keep at it.
