I HEARD IN A DREAM

I HEARD IN A DREAM

I heard in a dream:
Every motion disregarded
by a courage which was not brave;
made weak by anticipation
held down --
we were lost, waiting.
When we first came from the sky
we were larger.
Now the heights
have broken us down.
We are tired.
We retreat.
And our quiet pulses
in late afternoon light
stop,
At times, perhaps,
attaining an energy
rising with the red sun
as if wishing to take hold
beyond this level life.
A repetition of desire,
my friend,
does net let us loose.
I want a mirror on a mountain.
But I’ll get over myself.

That is: beyond childhood:
grow up, grow up!
Ice on the mountain
It’s up to you.
What’s the problem?
Join me in my ascent
for your life,
o let me show you what you see!
Let me climb!
Turned away at the window.
red visions outright
of sharp, hidden eyes
startle me.
But I want to climb
for you,
unmasked
without you.

Peter, this poem is a tribute to your craftsmanship as a poet. I thoroughly enjoyed the poem and the trip.
