THE BEST WAY TO AVOID A LOW FLYING AIRPLANE
After what you can do comes what can’t happen:
A day at the zoo replaced by the circus.
The clown with a deck of cards.
Your uncle home from the wars again.
Each trick has its own half-life;
It all depends on the spin of a wheel.
Yesterday is no smaller than the south field.
The corn still grows in rows, even for the sun alone.
The shadows by the Pacific become elongated manikins.
The quiet evening leads back to the movement of a hand.
Give it up! The sweet tint of ochre and tea -
The tint of the odds turned on their heads -
Every grey elephant remembers his birth.
Each honest command reaches back.
The form’s a rhetorical device
Like a pin-wheel, it merges regret with surprise.
Imaginez! ceci est une illusion.

A lot to think about here, Peter. Every departure from the comfort zone is a step forward, oui?
Les
