An Andes Greeting

An Andes Greeting

What did you look for, Tupac,

Beneath the moon’s curve
In the old City
Before a bleeding tomorrow?

Young Tupac Amaru of the virgins -
I swear I will not forget,
Cold night approaches,
The wind comes from the east.

Young Amaru
Tomorrow you’ll be gone -
Put on you purple feathers, stand up,
The string bridges is failing.

Young Tupac,
Oh man, that world of yours
Is dissipating -
We see hexagrams in the water
And them people from across the river.

Young Tupac Amaru
Possessed by your angel
When will they take your garden of delight -
Life is a jungle, huh,

Young Tupac Amaru.

Forgive the little meditation on the last of the Incas...of the emperors...

Our native American ancestors, be they central or south American, were remarkable people, Peter. Thanks for reminding me of that.

Les, I am just beginning my studies of the Incas, the Aztecs, and the Mayans. Maybe in 25 years I'll feel more confident of what I might say about them. thanks for visiting,

Peter
