it will be like any other day
the sun will rise and
music will play
my eyes will open and
find emptiness where
your body should be
i will walk across the room
reset the clock
for another thirty minutes with you
i will do this at least twice
until your image fades
like sleep from my eyes
like a wrinkle in the sheet
or a drop of rain on warm skin
that single drop
that finds my hand
as i reach outside
to get the morning paper
sleep is like dying
you are by my side there
in that place where we
are together without fear
without shame and
without clarity
that beautiful place
where your mouth
gives me life
and your breath
masks the smell of
all that is ugly
i make it through
hollow hours and
blinding light knowing
that tonight
when i close my eyes
you will be waiting
to take me to a better place
where i can be warm
in your arms until
tomorrow
Good one writer, I enjoyed the read.
