I wake up bent like a willow
after having surrendered to you
thoughts that once I didn't have
grew into thoughts I pushed away
and later became
thoughts I spoke to you
and you spoke them
and we were tangled
so tightly that
i didn't know where i ended
and you began
I was the drop of rain
running down your neck
across your shoulder and
down your back and
your skin responded
with a quiver and
another
and now
my tongue dry
my lips swollen
a tequila lump in my throat
my lungs empty
no breath remains
my love stripped bare
and everything i am
rests within your hands
the sky opened last night
and drenched us with
everything we knew lay
behind the darkness
and we discovered that
our mouths were made
for each other
we forgot in those moments
everything we were afraid of
and where pain used to be
now there are butterflies.
why the period at the end of the piece?
Les
Means "BOOM I'm finished"
I actually like this one.
I don't actually have an explanation for the period other than it is the end. Would you suggest leaving it out?
no breath remains
my love stripped bare
and everything i am
rests within your hands
the sky opened last night
and drenched us with
everything we knew lay
behind the darkness
these stanzas were the stand outs for me in a romance filled poem that I thoroughly enjoyed. I'm a sucker for this type of poetry.
BUMP...post more .
