Endless Days and Endless Nights

I am a soldier from the fray;
Supine upon my back I lay
Where doctored days and lonely nights,
Beneath drab artificial lights,
Have sent my soul back over where
The gruesome Dungeons of Despair
Loom dark below the bloated sea
As whispers quiver over me
From eidolons that dwell inside:

"We've sunk your soul and stripped your pride,
Today the cup of calm must end;
'Twas we who slaughtered every friend
Who fought and died beside you there -
Courageous, young and lovely fair."

So good to hear from you again, Tom.

Hang in there.

Nicely done, Tom. I enjoyed the read.

Lately, I've been reading some of your work Tom and I came upon these lines:

Extraordinary things
occur on some occasions
to ordinary beings
as magical invasions

We cannot be defined
by our picnics in the pine
or even understood
by strolling through the wood

Every day a man must learn
to be what he must be
Don't confront the fire
of another's private burn
Don't pretend to see what you don't really see
Let the world in leisure turn
upon its axis free
then magic you encounter
will be counted revelry

There is some great stuff in these vaults. Thanks for not erasing everything!

Les
