I doubt you know that feeling, Peter. You never write terrible poems. I haven't written anything even remotely decent in at least a year or more.ugh.

Sherry,

I appreciate your kindness. My workshop files on my computer contain up to ten poems for every one I post in the forum some months. I just don't put the really bad ones out for review. By really bad, I mean the poems I write that I can't get anything out of. I always told my students that they had to get the bad stuff out of them so they could get to the stuff worth working on and worth reworking. I am a reformed perfectionist, so at some level I feel even our best work can be improved.

Still, I could empathize with you retracting work you were dissatisfied with. When I set about getting a book's worth of poems together, that is when I come face-to-face with how disappointed I am with many of the poems I do post. But I almost never delete work from the forum because I value so highly any comments people might want to make...even if they just want to say: take a day off, Peter.

cheers, hope the holidays went well for you...I'm in recovery mode today.

amo,

Peter
