Election And Democracy

Another year of certainty
Turned uncertain.
System looms to change
Despite Obama’s win.

Another design for success
Turned flaw.
The rate of diminishing returns
Reveals it in awe.

America's health depends on the collective thoughts and actions of it's citizens as a whole, not any single individual. That it's a national expectation for otherwise is a blinding example of our nation's staggeringly incorrect perceptions of the world. That so few realized bush was nothing but a puppet, a face, will make an excellent chapter in some future sociology book.

Thanks Peter and P ..

I wrote this piece after more than 20 people were murdered, mostly journalist, somewhere in the south of the Philippines.

Obama's win looked like democracy's newest bright spot... an inspiration. People here in the Philippines wanted to be active comes election day just like there. Surprisingly, the present administration doesn't have plans of stepping down... And Election And Democracy seems inutile with some conspiracy brewing in the background. Resistance to uphold democracy have been silenced in a subtle manner.
In fact, in the previous years, this administration had been criticized by some Humanitarian Organizations from all over the world for the number of extra-judicial killings of mostly media men... which have not been resolved until now.

I like the brevity, contrasts, and rhyme.

It's really too bad, what the noble career of journalism has been reduced to in america. But to your problem.

"People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people." - V, V for Vendetta, Alan Moore

It's your fault that it came to this. Your fault, the fault of your neighbors, your parents, your family, your friends. It is the citizen's responsibility to take interest in their government, to make sure their keepers stay in line. Have you no familiarity with history? You hold all the power, not them. You are the lifeblood of society, the muscle and blood. You outnumber, and assuming what you say is correct, you have the moral high-ground, so you will always outnumber them. Never allow kindness to become weakness.

I wish our journalists were so good as to be murdered.
