Artemis

I am the scourge of the steppe.
Kublai roaring through Persia
spear in hand, impaling the impertinent.

I was warrior while you still stood en point
tip-toeing your way to oblivion
thinking that the Abyss would make you wise;
that you could suckle kumis and be imbued with motherhood?
Nay, it is not that easy.

I have ground the salt to dust and crossed
your threshold. Brushed aside contemptuously
the hedge magic with my burning visions.

I have cloven my tongue with those more adroit
than you, mastered petty deceit in the collegeum
of the Illuminati and crushed it all to ashes...

No amount of lies can ever defeat a shining truth.

You lost, Crone; my dreams are the kamikaze rains
and you drowned without knowing you were, yet, wet.

Bruce-

Long time.
Coupla comments.
I'm having a hard time reconciling ""mastered petty deceit" with "shining truth".
Also, lotsa, punctuation, at, the end.
A bit jarring?
I don't know. I am, as you, know, no expert.

Good to see you back on the mule.

Jack

A skillful piece. I am not sure I am so happy with the poetic posturing. Still, I did enjoy it.

amo,

Peter

It's over my head, Brucefur, but I'm really glad to see you on the board!

Nicely done, Bruce, write more.

Hey jjjjjack. *smiles. I agree that the deceit line is somewhat out of order. I'll have to work on that some and see if I can't make the poem a little more intuitive (if only to help Marty out in her understanding of it). I was trying to convey that there was a time in my life that I did indeed practice deceit, but found that truth was stronger.

Peter, thank you. I do try and have a good posture, but it comes harder and harder with age; as you might know? lol. Thank you for taking the time to write.

Les, Ironically I have been. It has been 18 months since I have truly been able to write more than one poem at a time and sometimes even those have been a struggle. The desire is there, and even the inspiration, but sadly I just can't get the twain to mesh... Then, last week, I was listing to the CBC radio's, The Evolution of Charles Darwin and now the poetry has been flooding my brain. I will post the one it inspired shortly (albeit the third draft of it).

Sincerely,
Brucefur

Hi Peter, it is good to be back, but sadly it won't be for long. I have converted my house to solar power and wood heat, planting vegetables and might be getting some goats and chickens next year... So, lolling on emule is a luxury that I truly shouldn't be allowing myself.

It's been a busy year. Folded my security company in July and will be starting up a delivery company in December, or early January. Bought my house on a 2.25 city lot near the Fraser River September before last and got married on Halloween to QueenB (you can see her poems here if she hasn't been a bad bad girl and deleted them). The conversion to solar power/wood heat a la Grapes of Wrath happened sometime in the middle of all that. lol. Not sure about the Grapes of Wrath reference as I have never read it, in spite of likely Steinbeck.

Sincerely,
Brucefur
