I.
Gary Snyder Philip Whalen Smokey the Bear
Rachel Carlson dancing on the mountain top
Arrested development politicians forgetfulness
The water is dry the song is silent
Repetitious
Vagrant distracted give me a smoke
I need to get laid he said in the bar
While the smiles vanish over the horizon
II.
I knew a man
He disappeared
Before the polar bears melted
A byproduct of the war on humanity
Can you see the flat line?
III.
What form strontium ninety
What form re-armament of Japan
The ghosts of past righting of wrongs
Gone wrong
pass through my fingers
Electricity in the face of democracy is no disservice
I don’t even have time to correct my typos
Go to the corner and whisper to a stranger:
We can get it done together
Today
Our climate is an ongoing concern Peter. If we don't do something about global warming, who will?
Nature might destroy us of its own volition, but we certainly have the technology to virtually eliminate greehhouse gases if we choose to.
Thanks for taking a stand, Peter.
Les
Hi, Les. I was beginning to wonder if anyone in the forum cared enough about the climate crisis to even just dump on my poem if they disagreed with the premise. There are some lines in this one I think are better than the poem...there goes my organic theory of poetry visa Wordsworth, Coleridge, etc. Enjoy the summer of our autumn day today. West Fest is tomorrow, Golden Gate Park.
amo,
Peter
