Losing my Grip

I'm an aspiring poet. My work is not profound. It is not the work of a professional. But, I would still like to share it and get your constructive criticism.

GRIP

The part that hurts the most,
is knowing I'll never see you again
Of the things we did, I can boast
Yet of the things we could have, I will cry

Time has passed, yet there's been no change
Sorrow swallows my scream
After these weeks, I still feel the pain
To mend this, I can only dream

I'm holding on to memories we barely made,
They become distant, and begin to fade
I strive to remember
To trap this fleeting happiness, to me you gave

Was this a gift, or a curse?
Either way, it matters not
For it will not get any worse
In your essence, I am caught

The past we had was great
Yet this present,
Is filled with loathing and hate
My heart, you torment

I've seen my memories fade away
You've taken my whole life
There's nothing left to say

Forever now alone,
A greater punishment on me has been imposed
I've lost this fight,
I miss you
I'll never be alright

Welcome to the mule. At the moment she is silent, you must wait for a reply, but such is the mule. Quality, not quantity. Emmm, I got into poetry through my first love, a sweet, sweet girl, more woman than girl at such a young age. I was your age. She wrote, I decided I'd give it a whirl, and I kicked ass. Of course things went very poorly between us, otherwise I'd be neck deep in children, I suppose. Probably for the best. There's a point to all this besides reminiscing, but I've stopped caring about it.

Ah, don't leave your personal info lying around, age, name, all that. The net is not a safe place. Just edit the posts.
