My monitor

keeps staring back at me
annoyance
i look around
there is no one
i stare it down
both our eyes unblinking.
eternity passes by
doubt creeping in
It flickers
Victory!
Now for my eye drops.

You know, Kevin, I enjoyed working out your poem and finding where it intersected with my own experience, as I do with many poems. I admit, though, to being a little put off by the advertisement at the bottom, since posting ads, even about oneself, has not been the custom here on the mule. Even I, however, have transgressed at times, when a new book has come out, but even then I tried to keep that in the frivolous conversations threads, which is where we keep much of the talk not having to do with poetry and poetics.

Still, I like what you posted and hope you will post more poetry and less advertising in the future. I don't even know if others here will even comment on the ad, since it does double as autobiography.

This is a forum in which none of us really tries much to limit what others post, even though most would eschew spam when we can...and we've even turned spam into poems from time to time [JohnnyBoy's good at that [www.emule.com] /> ].

Avanti,

Peter

kevin,

ugh, I'm always taken aback when someone takes my criticism too seriously. Anyway, keep posting, I'm sure you've lots of good stuff in you.

Peter
