life beautiful
sometimes you are breathless
and at times it sweeps your heart
unexpected
peculiarly
with quiet passion
and desires for the unknown
you’d like to soothe
if only you knew how
and in other moments
sweeping despair
can still manage
to breed
opportunities
before unseen
to flourish despite the odds
or the circumstances
that brought you to them
but in it all there is a grace
in living this life
hopefulness
elation
and the great perseverance
driving steadily behind-
for even the human condition
cannot hold down
the majesty of our gift
I inhale now-exhale again
feeling my life force
and the energy
I’ve been granted
by my Maker-
I taste the sweetness
hold tender, the fragility
and give many thanks
for the blessing in this journey

Frosty:
Beautiful perspective on life...I share your awe at the wonder of it all.
Joe
Joe, I'm so glad you enjoyed. thank you for commenting.
Sherry, I'm sure Khalida would agree with your philosophy as expressed in this poem.
After reading this I asked myself who wouldn't prefer life?
My conclusion in pondering my own question was this: Many more people prefer life than those who respect life.
Les
Les, I agree with what you're saying. I think it's the lucky ones who can find a way to both...of course in appreciating something/respecting it and having a sense of awe and wonder also leaves you more vulnerable to disappointment or hurt-but it's a risk I prefer to take.
Sherry,
I understand the exhilaration you are referring to in this poem even though it is much too general
keep at it
Peter
well done. I especially like
with quiet passion
and desires for the unknown
you’d like to soothe
if only you knew how
to me that capture both elation and despair all in one thought.
Marflow
Peter and Marflow, thanks for the feedback. The part you pointed out is my fave. part so I'm glad it stood out to someone else.
