Shore-man to Shore

where my voice sleeps Distortedly
traces of Voice speak I do not sheer
wholly waiting embracing we
Take on what we cannot bear
alternating breathing pacing
a Meter that will not retreat
open to a sound alarming waiting
tracing heart and brain and finding tips
Continents to ice and Desperation

What came immediately to mind after reading this....shore to shore radios and police scanners. One is very handy if a man is in trouble out at sea....the other if a man is bored and someone else is in trouble.

When a man or woman is off-shore, sometimes, the voice from the shore can be of mortal importance, even distorted, distant, nearly impossible to interpret...

Peter this is a good one. Much to ponder here.

On certian calm nights we would go out on sunset boat rides about a 1/2 mile to a mile off shore on Lake Michigan. The voices from the beach carried clearly, and we could hear them as if they were close by. They surely didn't think anyone was listening at that distance.

Has little or nothing to do with this excellent poem. I just found it interesting to recall that.

Thanks for calling back those voices, Steve.

I think the shoreline in the poem actually may have more to do with the shoreline between the so-called conscious and so-called unconscious.

amo,

Peter
