Events Do Not Deliver Their Meanings to Us/They Are Always Interpreted.

What am I listening to?
The room
Clint Eastwood
My inner voice
The silence
Together
Together
Together

II.

The Peacock at the Lyre – for Jill

I hear the silent radiance
Touch feather to mighty air
Dress myself in humility
And praise all about me:

III.

Go Back to Sleep

I thought I heard you say
‘I heard your voice’
‘I heard your voice in your poems...
The two love poems...’
Every woman I see today
Walking down the street is beautiful.
I must be crazy
And thankful to my friend
So far away.

Peter, I agree with your premise, you can't separate a person from their experience which colors all they see. A good read here, I enjoyed this one.

Les,

Then we are in, perhaps, complete agreement on this, since part of my doctoral thesis involved exploring the mutual implication of a person with his/her experiences.

Yep, Peter, you can take a boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy.

Sometimes the obvious must be elevated to
artistic expression before the obvious becomes
obvious and finds its way to a commonality of
reference or defined clarity within myriad experiences.
You have added to the clarity and commonality
with your poetic. tom

Everybody tells the same story different.

Dan,

Your wording of it is so much more succinct and to the point:

Everybody tells the same story different.

Thanks,

Peter

It is always a thrill to get a response to a poem that is even more poetic than the poem itself.

A very high compliment Peter, thank you.

The poem is worthy of such praise.

Peter,
Your title says more to me than what I can make of the body of the poem.
Although is is a statement of sorts, I find it capturing so much that it could stand as a poem all on its own.

It is heartwarming to me to think of a discussion we had here a long time ago about "truth" vs. non-truth, lies...etc. If my memory serves me, which it may not, it was a discussion just between you and me, and we disagreed or, at the very least, I didn't understand where you were coming from on the issue.

The reason I find it heartwarming to reflect back on it now is because I understand better where you were coming from, if not concur. Some life experiences between then and now have shown me some twist and turns that make the lines less visible than they once were. I'm not sure the reason...growing older...personal growth...or whatever it may be, it's neat that our friendships at e-mule have been maintained or endured long enough to see such changes. I consider you and all our friends here a blessing in my life. Thank you.

Mary

Mary,

You all are a blessing to me, as I also see us each growing in his or her own way.

Thanks for taking a look at this. I guess the poem itself is just one example of what the title says for me.

amo,

Peter

p.s., I'm glad we don't always agree.
