Raven, the wind-skimmer,
the ebony-winged sky dancer.
The black heart of a white winter,
and the wolf's winged brother.
Raven, dark craven, the dead eater,
Poe's second shadow, dark-eyed,
blood-beaked, feasting on the fallen deer.
Raven, the trickster, eagle-teaser,
nimble-clawed, climbing the sky on ragged
black-feathered wings,
Raven, spirit-guide, soul-stealer,
flying over both mountain and wood,
a dark bird for a dark world.
Behold the raven, long-feared harold of death,
dancing with ebony wings on the air.
I enjoyed reading the way you portray the raven...spirit-guide, soul stealer...a dark bird for a dark world. I did have a little trouble with the image of his ebony wings "dancing" on the air, though.
