summer weather
has finally broken spring
you come inside after
hours in the yard
sun baked and beautiful
smelling like you smell
I breathe your skin in deeply
and hold you close
and feel the heat you radiate
burning on my body
and inviting me to stay
a little closer for awhile
I’ve never really been a fan of summer
I don’t like too much heat
and have always preferred
the cool winds and the chaos
of the colors of autumn
and the fresh breezes of spring
but something about you, today
in this sun kissed state
glowing from the warmth
and smiling because
summer is your season
makes me appreciate it all a little more

frost I wish there were more romanticism like this in the world. I have said before I don't judge poems good or bad. They either do something for me or they don't. This does good things for me.
Thanks for an uplifting read.
This does good things for me as well. Thanks
Aaron and Steevo, I enjoy the romanticism in life. It's really everywhere if people open their eyes and see it...yes? thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. I'm glad good things came to both of you.
Sherry,
I have always been confused. To me what people call romanticism has always been seeing the world as it is. Your acceptance of your amour's season is exactly how you demonstrate that you are you and capable of growing because of love. That makes it realism.
Thanks for the reminder,
Peter
Peter, I couldn't agree more...as in, it's everywhere all the time. But thank you for pointing out the realism too. I think there's a good balance between the two that can be found.
I've just always felt such a sense of wonder for life and seen the beauty in places other people wouldn't necessarily notice. I like it that way.
A good read Frosty.
Les
thanks, Les.
....and smiling because
summer is your season
makes me appreciate it all a little more
to be loved
by someone
enough
that they smile
when it's our season
is love
enough
Enjoyed, Sherry.
Mary
thanks, Mary. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
