A Throw of the Die

A Throw of the Die

I have to hold the sun
Every afternoon
Take light from my soul
To keep it lit
Go down the Egyptian boat
Look for the last glimpse of day
To survive my own demon – me.

But, you, you have to jump off
A fucking building
To get out of the reach of yours.
Want to trade spirits for a day or two
So you can recoup your losses
At the table of death?

I guess it's elliptical and personal. My friend jumped off a four story building and failed to kill himself. Thanks, Les, for taking a second look. The pun in on die.

amo,

Peter
