Every moment of every hour
Our inner voice calls out
Nostalgic for archaic tower
Beyond these realms of doubt
Tormented by the troubled view
Sadistic twisted voyeur
While nature is quite pitiless
And immune to this paranoia
I think I disagree!
This is the opening to a much longer poem that I'm currently working on for a Mayday recital.
It is intended to be a reflective piece based upon observations of humanity, global climate change and the economic cycles of the monetary system.
Generally humans do look back to better/golden days and most adults look back into history to try and fathom out the now.
The way T.V. news is reported in the developed world, especially tsunamis or other catastrophes where loss of life and homes/possesions occurs. Seems to be almost voyeuristic at times the repetition and greed for gorey details is so nonchalant.
Meanwhile, Earth,Nature, The Planet just continues with it's never ending plan of persistence.
It's still a work in progress all comments very welcome

Unfortunately, a majority of the world's population has grown to be fiendishly voyeuristic, fed by an omnipresent and insatiable electronic media. I don't quite see the connection, however, between this conclusion that you've drawn in the second verse and the nostalgaia theme of the first verse. And I'm not at all sure what and "archaic tower" is. Nevertheless, this is a worthy start to what promises to be an interesting longer poem. Please share it with us when complete, or as you progress, if you wish.

Joe,
thank you for the comments on construction and content of these first couple of verses. I shall keep them in my thoughts as I progress.
The, "archaic tower" is a use of some artistic flair to describe a stone circle or dolmen standing stones pre-550 BC
