Honor Song
My friend’s appreciative grace
Overwhelms the scent
Of Spring flowers on the bus
And my need to read poetry.

and the friend is fortunate to have peter.
this was wonderful, peter. the title wraps it into a gift.
Thanks Joseph and Red,

This morning, during my visit to her house, I was thinking of changing the title to 'Honor Song' after the practice among the Lakota Native Americans of dedicative song for the elders of the tribe, specifically the women.
What do you think?
Peter
A lovely idea , Peter. I also admired the poem. Very brief, very telling.
Peter this poem was written with the skill
of a surgeon and I have surgeons as partners
so I hope I am not insulting your talent by my
comparison. However, I have to use that metaphor
because I have rarely if ever seen a short poem
that I immediately read as finished and perfect.
After-growth was such a poem and only a surgeon
with superior artistic and physical skills could
accomplish it. tom

Thanks, Tom and Khalida. Unlike usual, even with short pieces, this one I actually made in my head and then had to try to remember it for later when I could write it down.
amo,
Peter
No poem is, in the end, only about one person, or only about one's own relationships. The world is larger, more in need of us.
