The Painter
After reading ‘NOTES FOR A POET NEAR DEATH’ by Neeli Cherkovski
our exhausted witness
to poets
at the end of word
making world
out of pigmented visions
their hands filled
with wisdom
and betrothal
or beauty
A good read, Peter. I enjoyed this one.

I liked this one too, Peter, and glad you mentioned the poet you were reading as, in researching, I stumbled on some others I like as well.

Thank you both for re-membering this piece...yesterday I was talking with a mutual friend about poets as painters we know...Neeli, Ferlinghetti, etc...noting how preciously these great poets felt about themselves as painter, in Neeli's case: elephants.
