Don't Save The Queen!

Blood. It's spreading,
blooming like a fatal rose
through the linen, blotting
out the faces imprinted there.

Hands. Press down impotently,
unable to staunch the wound
as each wayward breeze catches them
like confetti, lifting them errantly,
little rusty flakes,
like morbid little snowflakes,
falling free as they take flight
and are swallowed by the roaring halitosis
of big government.

Pallid. The vaults lay bare,
naked as a morgue, as pretentious
as a funeral parlour aping vitality,
vivisecting savings like an RSVP
to the auditors masquerade.

Dreams. They elude the sleepless nocturnes
whose somnolent desires the Sandman plunders.
He, too, is a fascist factor, feeding
off the wills too strong to submit willingly.

The Sandman is their friend;
I... I am the cheese.

Well said! It's hard to imagine the current economy inspiring art, but you've managed to create a fine poem from its wreckage.

A good read, Bruce, sounds pessimistic, but anyone looking at the world's economic woes would be like minded.

Hi folks,

It is about these bailouts. I completely disagree with them. You reap what you sow, is my opinion and quite frankly maybe we just might end up with something better from the ashes of fiscal incompetence?

The $87 billion bailout here amounts to more than $2 million per Canadian. Our population is in decline and 30% of us are over the age of 50, so who is going to pay off these debts? Worse is that they keep selling us snake oil by talking in terms of "should be out of deficit spending in five years," completely ignoring the fact that our national debt is sitting at more than $2 billion per Canadian citizen.

I tell you the world has gone mad! You end a recession by making business grow, not coddling the incompetent!
