daydreaming

in your voice
I could hear the pain
of past loves deflated
flattening your belief
that you are worthy

and your eyes
were colored sadness
darkened
and not wanting
to be blue

God, I could love you
so easily
hope could be renewed
and you'd know
you are the perfect creation
of a mighty maker

skin to bone
and mine to yours
how I'd like to show you
elation is possible
even at our age

do you believe
there is still time
to get caught up
in the beautiful complications
accompanying love

consider me, will you
let's track solace down together
hopelessness is old
and ready to take leave
and I imagine retiring
in your arms

Frosty:

Beautifully expressed throughout. The last verse is especially moving.

I second everything that was said in previous responses. This part is so hopeful:

hopelessness is old
and ready to take leave
and I imagine retiring
in your arms

KQ and Mary, I'm glad you both enjoyed it. I know I enjoyed writing it...and I am ever a hopeful one.
