I believe Linda's comment refers to "The White Man's Burden," which is a warning about the moral dangers of colonialism. (It only sounds racist if you take it literally.) Remember, Kipling wrote "The Man Who Would Be King" and other works in which white supremacists are taking down a dramatic notch or two.
You'd think "Take up the White Man's Burden" could be sung to the tune of "Give my regards to Broadway", but you can't

Um.... I don't mean to jump on anyone's back, but "White Man's Burden" is not a poem mocking imperialism; it is written with sincerety. Although in modern times we would immediately read in to it as a satire, it is what it says. I don't recall which of you tried to categorize it as an attempt to warn the world of the moral dangers of colonialism/imperialism, but I do know that this was not Rudyard's intentions. He was in favour of imperialism and was being quite literal in this poem. I do agree that he was not racist, but 'a man of the times.' I believe that you can only be a racist if you have the means of knowing better. I also agree that this poem is available to remind us of the dangers behind imperialism and cultural implantation, but that does not change the fact that Kipling was writing to persuade that it was a divine calling to those who had the ability to take upon themselves the burden of the "half-devil half-child" people.
