I read and write poetry.I like to try and think where the writter
or artist (when photography and paintings are involved as to
where they are coming from)
To-day I read the haunting poems of Fulker Greville, and Viggo
Mortensen.I enquired to have my own proper web site, but it will
cost to much.I did enjoy the poetry I read tho. Thanks Lolly.

---Lord Brooke Fulke Greville
Oh, wearisome condition of humanity,
Born under one law, to another bound;
Vainly begot, and yet forbidden vanity,
Created sick, commanded to be sound.
What meaneth nature by these diverse laws?
Passion and reason self-division cause.
It is the mark or majesty of power
To make offences that it may forgive;
Nature herself doth her own self deflower,
To hate those errors she herself doth give.
For how should man think that he may not do,
If nature did not fail and punish too?
Tyrant to others, to herself unjust,
Only commands things difficult and hard,
Forbids us all things which it knows is lust,
Makes easy pains, unpossible reward.
If nature did not take delight in blood,
She would have made more easy ways to good.
We that are bound by vows and by promotion,
With pomp of holy sacrifice and rites,
To teach belief in good and still devotion,
To preach of heaven's wonders and delights:
Yet when each of us in his own heart looks
He finds the God there far unlike his books.

CUTTINGS
Viggo Mortensen
The afterthought of chimes
filters in from next-door.
I am under the echo, not
listening so much as noticing
it from time to time as
I look over the results
of my landscaping and
weeding from a white
wicker chair.
An errant vine has sprouted
two blue flowers
where it reaches
roots of the lemon tree.
They are beautiful;
I am suspicious.
Are they a diversion,
an entreaty to keep me
from cutting back the vine?
I’ll keep the flowers,
put them in a saucer
by your bed.

He's cute, he can act, and he writes poetry- wow! Harrison Ford may be losing his place in my heart.
pam
Johnny Depp, not Harrison Ford?
I enquired to have my own proper web site, but it will cost too much.
Costs nothing, Laurel:

Viggo lived in Argentina for a short time,
I once heard him speak Castellano (Spanish), beautiful, just beautiful
The first time I saw him was in Indian Runner,
a great movie, a great performance
and he writes poems ?!
The ducks are nice, too!
Re: "Cuttings" by Viggo Mortensen
I think if he wasn't a movie star, someone would have told him that his poem needs cutting as well as the "errant vine." Here's the poem I found hiding inside the poem.
An errant vine has sprouted
two blue flowers.
Are they an entreaty to keep me
from cutting back the vine?
I’ll keep the flowers,
put them in a saucer
by your bed.
I think the problem with VM's writing example here is that the first stanza doesn't seem to connect in any way to the second stanza other than to perhaps create the setting, while the poem seems to want to achieve more than a pretty picture with its last line, and yet the metaphor is extremely unclear so I sit here scratching my head with no new insight that I would have liked to attain after my time spent reading this piece.
