Server Crash

Saturday 2/26/2005 server crash

On Saturday around 10am eastern time, our server crashed. It began to reboot itself every 10 minutes or so in a loop until we eventually took it offline. Upon evaluation, Rudy believes the power supply and/or mother board have failed. The hard drive survived and we were able to copy the data onto a temporary server until we locate replacement parts!

That said, we will be down for maintenance again sometime this week or next weekend to replace the faulty parts and get back on our feet. Please excuse the temporary interruptions in service.

Best,

Aaron

Last time that happened to me, it was merely a heat sync problem. The chip was overheating, I mean, forcing the shutdown. Replacing the fan solved it for me, if that is any help. They don't use fans any more, you say? Oh, well.

Strange behavior now - backspace key erases all text (so I won't correct any errors). Cut and paste does not function. Neither does 'enter' key fto make line feed & carriage return. Anyone else noticing this?

Another note - posting this with Mozilla and all works fine, if that means anything.

I think it's probably YOUR browser, Hugh. Everything here functions as it did before the crash.

I hate to be a party pupper, but it seems the time is still out of time. Did anyone see a white rabbit go by, twinkle, twinkle. . .
