1700's and 1940's romantic poetry

I'm in the process of writing a fan fiction for Pearl Harbor, as well as The Patriot, and would possibly like to include some poetry in each of those. If anyone happens to know a link to a list of poems, or a specific poem, from either the 1700's or the 1940's-1950's, it would be greatly appreciated. Romance poems would be most preferred... and even better, one that might tell a story about two people would be perfect.

Sorry this is so specific, and thank you for your time!!

I don't understand. What have the 1700s got to do with Pearl Habor?

I'm not sure either, but here is a definition of 'fan fiction', if that helps:

Both Jonathan Swift and William Blake come to mind for 1700 poets, or try this timeline from Univ. Toronto for a lot of ideas:

Fan fiction for PEARL HARBOR - needs WW2-era poetry.

Fan fiction for THE PATRIOT - needs poetry that might have been read (or written) by participants in the American Revolutionary War.

===

For THE PATRIOT - do a net search for [poetry + "american revolution"] and you'll find several sites. And/or look for [poetry + history] and pick on of the many sites that gives a chronology of important poetry; from there you can pick authors who date during or before the Revolution.

For PEARL HARBOR, look for poetry + ["world war II"] and you'll find a great deal of material.

If you find anything wonderful, please share it here!

Walt Whitman was a popular bard during the 1940's and 1950's. I am sure that it would be capable on your part to do some research on him on
www.google.com. I do believe that he has some romance poems also. I sincerely hopes that this will help you.

actually I think Xavier Cugat was somewhat more popular then, but Walt swung with the best of them
