This looks interesting - there is a British movie coming out soon about the life and poetry of John Wilmot, the Earl of Rochester. "An author of elegant, if explicit, poetry in the licentious court of Charles 11, Wilmot was derided by his peers as being worthless and useless, and blazing out his youth and health in lavish voluptuousness."
With Johnny Depp as Wilmot, John Malkovich as Charles, and Shane MacGowan too, i'll definitely be seeing this one.
There's a bit of info about it here:

'John Wilmot penned his poetry
riddled with the pox,
Nabakov wrote on index cards
at a lectern, in his socks'
Thms Malory
le morte d'arthur was written
by a bloke in jail by day
for murder they say
and mudred himself,
a noble ruffian's life.
A friend of mine had a bit of trouble at college for describing Malory accurately as "the famous rustler, rapist and writer".
the three "R"s !
Speaking of movies starring Johnny Depp (be still, my heart!), I can highly recommend Finding Neverland, about James M. Barrie, and how he came to write Peter Pan. It's in very limited release currently in the US.
