Wnehever I have to find very old material/information about a poem/poet,
people in general, facts, history,
I search the site below ( I have signed for a yearly membership some months ago) . . .
They have a 2-day No risk Try-for-free, in which no CC is required
I tried it months ago, then I stopped using it,
no one bothered me thru email, until I finally decided I wanted to become a member
so, if any of you guys and girls want to try, it is very very good
This week I was reading a 1905 newspaper, and found exactly what I needed
Maybe they don't always have the great newspapers
( such as Washington Post file) - but still it is a great site
Thanks Ilza, I have often tried to find articles that are not archived past 15 years by our local paper. I will try your site and see if they have the info. I was seeking.

Interesting site all right. I searched for Edgar Poe and kidnap(p)ed, but turned nothing up. Perhaps that is because the Baltimore Sun is not one of their papers, but they would have us believe one can make an advanced search for newspapers as far back as 1753. That seems a stretch, but I guess it is possible. Still, if one can search for free, why would one pay for the priviledge?
Hugh, I like your reasononig, Peter
