for those of us who search for used books (I do ) - and use abebooks, or amazon, bn, etc, this is a great site :

I often search on eBay, but BEFORE BIDDING I usually check on ABEbooks to see if there are better deals there.

Cool- another excuse to surf the web looking for books!

I usually go straight to abebooks- since they act as a purchasing agent in most cases.

I see the "Library" indication is mentioned in the links on this site. I have never tried a commercial library before, and am wondering if this is a cost effective option. Is anyone familiar with such stores?

Cost effective probably but I just can't part with a book and I'm sure lots of us here are the same way

Thanks, Ilza. I suspect we are all bookaholics! I can also recommend

as a top facility for finding and purchasing books through the Internet, especially old or out-of-print ones. The Bookfinder interface is easy to use, and you are not required to nominate what subject category your book is in. It doesn't bombard you with ads. It's not a vendor, but enables you to compare variables such as edition-date, publisher, quality, vendor location and price and then link to your preferred vendor or agent direct. It acts as a meta-searcher, collating the search results from a long list of other good searchers (including Amazon and Abebooks) and booksellers worldwide. I see fetchbook isn't on their list yet, and wonder whether that's because fetchbook doesn't always report on the book requested, but can report some unrelated book instead just because of one or two shared words in the title - at least it did when I tried it out.
