Does anyone remember their's?

John Glenn High School, Walkerton, Indiana. Class of 1999.

I don't recall that we had them.

I'm sure we didn't have one for my college class, but there was an inscription on campus from the class one hundred years before ours: USE WELL THY FREEDOM. I remember that.

We only had a school motto. LABORE ET INGENIO.

And no I couldn't remember it, I had to go and look it up. The school where I work now has NIL SATIS OPTIMUM, which is very bad latin.

Nil Mortalibus Ardui Est was my school mottoe. It means nothing is too hard for mortal man - but that was before mobile phones - they'd have qualified it if they'd ever tried to delete the message symbol from mine!

I always knew looking back on my tears would make me laugh, but I never knew looking back on my laughter would make me cry.

Our school motto:
?Nec Decstrosum Nec Sinistrosum?
Why Latin and not Sanskrit? I guess Bishop Cotton didn?t know none.

Obesa cantavit. (The fat lady has sung.)

Or, more seriously, from Lowell's Commemoration Ode,

"Prove now thy truth."

Any fairly large dictionary should also have a 'foreign phrases' section, where Latin mottos will be found, if you don't mind pinching one already in use.

If you still looking for mottos for the class of 2005 we have ours and ours is something about a beach. But if you go on yahoo.com or anyother site they actually give you a better list! Good Luck and best wishes to the Class of 2005!
