Talia,

Can you use a copy of Randal Robinson's Unlocking Shakespeare's Language?

Yes, but in order to do so, you would need to move a large and easily annoyed cat.

What would I use it for?

It's a workbook on how to read Shakespeare more effectively. I thought it might come in handy in your classes.

If not, don't worry- it can keep sitting on my textbook shelf. (usually between the Riverside Shakespeare and Essential of Managerial Finance)

Which one of those two has the origin of the Capulet-Montague feud in it?

And how exactly did the bite the thumb insult originate, while you are in there. Or, flicking the thumbnail against the teeth, whichever.

The footnote (in Riverside) just tells us 'considered as an act of insult or defiance. '

However, The Field Guide to Gestures, [www.npr.org], says:

"Thumb Bite: Considered by experts to be the Elizabethan equivalent of the finger gesture, the thumb bite is a gravely insulting gesture."
