(CNN) -- Ray Charles, the innovative singer and pianist whose combinations of blues and gospel pioneered soul music and earned him the nickname "the Genius," has died. He was 73.
Georgia, Georgia, the whole day through
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind
Talkin' 'bout Georgia
I'm in Georgia
A song of you
Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
Georgia, sweet Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back
It always leads back to you
I'm in Georgia, Georgia, sweet Georgia
No peace, no peace I find
Just this old, sweet song
Keeps Georgia forever on my mind
Just an old sweet, sweet song
Keeps Georgia forever on my mind

He will be missed.
You Don't Know Me
You give your hand to me
And then you say, "Hello."
And I can hardly speak,
My heart is beating so.
And anyone can tell
You think you know me well.
Well, you don't know me.
(no you don't know me)
No you don't know the one
Who dreams of you at night;
And longs to kiss your lips
And longs to hold you tight
Oh I'm just a friend.
That's all I've ever been.
Cause you don't know me.
(no you don't know me)
For I never knew the art of making love,
Though my heart aches with love for you.
Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by.
A chance that you might love me too.
(love me too)
You give your hand to me,
And then you say, "Goodbye."
I watched you walk away,
Beside the lucky guy
Oh, you'll never ever know
The one who loved you so.
Well, you don't know me
(For I never knew the art of making love, )
(Though my heart aches with love for you. )
Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by.
A chance that you might love me too.
(love me too)
Oh, you give your hand to me,
And then you say, "Goodbye."
I watched you walk away,
Beside the lucky guy
Oh, you'll never ever know
The one who loved you so.
Well, you don't know me
(you don't love me, you don't know me)

I Can't Stop Loving You Lyrics
(I can't stop loving you)
I've made up my mind
To live in memory of the lonesome times
(I can't stop wanting you)
It's useless to say
So I'll just live my life in dreams of yesterday
(Dreams of yesterday)
Those happy hours that we once knew
Tho' long ago, they still make me blue
They say that time heals a broken heart
But time has stood still since we've been apart
(I can't stop loving you)
I've made up my mind
To live in memories of the lonesome times
(I can't stop wanting you)
It's useless to say
So I'll just live my life in dreams of yesterday
(Those happy hours)
Those happy hours
(That we once knew)
That we once knew
(Tho' long ago)
Tho' long ago
(Still make me blue)
Still ma-a-a-ake me blue
(They say that time)
They say that time
(Heals a broken heart)
Heals a broken heart
(But time has stood still)
Time has stood still
(Since we've been apart)
Since we've been apart
(I can't stop loving you)
I said I made up my mind
To live in memory of the lonesome times
(I can't stop wanting you)
It's useless to say
So I'll just live my life of dreams of yesterday
(Of yesterday)

Well, I got a woman, way 'cross town
She's good to me, oh, oh, yeah
Said, I got a woman, way 'cross town
She's good to me, oh, yeah
She gives me money, every dime I need
Yes, you know, she's the kind of friend, indeed
Said, I got a woman, way 'cross town
She's good for me, oh, oh, yeah
She say she love me early in the morning
Just for me, oh, oh, yeah
She say she love me early in the morning
Just for me, oh, yeah
She say she love me, just for me
yes, you know, she love me so tenderly
Said, I got a woman, way 'cross town
She's good to me, oh, yeah
She's there to love me, all day and night
Never grumbles or fusses, just treats me right
Never running in the streets, leaving me alone
She knows a woman's place is right back there
With a hand around the home
Got a woman, way 'cross town
She's good to me, oh, yeah
Well, I got a woman, way 'cross town
She's good to me, oh, yeah
Well, she's my baby, don't you understand
That I, I, I , I, I'm her loving man?
Said, I got a woman, way 'cross town
She's good to me, oh, oh, yeah
Well, it's all right
Well, it's all right
I got a woman, way 'cross time
She's good to me, oh, oh, oh, yeah
"You Don't Know Me" was written by Cindy Walker and Eddy Arnold. Ms. Walker lives in Texas and still writes. Ray Charles' rendition was always one of my favorites.
Joan Osborne (most famous for the song "[What if God Was] One of Us") wrote a song about Ray Charles. It's called SPIDER WEB. I think Ray would have loved it -- I hope he heard it and liked it.
You really need to HEAR it to appreciate it, but here are the words anyway:
Spider Web
by Joan Osborne
(from the album : Relish)
I dreamed about Ray Charles last night
And he could see just fine, you know
I asked him for a lullaby. He said,
"Honey, I don't sing no more"
No more, no more, no more, Ray don't sing no more
He said, "Since I got my eyesight back, my voice has just deserted me
No 'Georgia On My Mind' no more. I stay in bed with MTV"
Then Ray took his glasses off and I could look inside his head
Flashing like a thunderstorm, I saw a shining spider web
Spider web, spider web,
spider web in Ray Charles' head
I dreamed about Ray Charles last night
He took me flying in the air
Showed me my own spider web; Said,
"Honey, you had best take care
The world is made of spider webs
the threads are stuck to me and you
Careful what you're wishing for,
'cause when you gain, you just might lose"
You just might lose your spider web, spider web,
spider web
Ray Charles said
When you're feeling lonely, when you're hiding in your bed,
don't forget your string of pearls, don't forget your spider web
When I go to sleep tonight, don't let me dream of brother Ray
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he sees
Just like him best the other way
Spider web, spider web, spider web Ray Charles said
Spider web, spider web, spider web Ray Charles' head
All I got's my spider web, keepin' me alive
All I got's my spider web, keepin' me alive
Come on Ray
Thanks, I'll look for this.......just with the words alone I like it
It's a wonderful album. Like most people, I bought it when "One of Us" was a hit ... but now when I put it on it's usually because I want to hear "Spider Web" or "Crazy Baby."
I heard his America The Beautiful on the radio a few days ago - what a classic!
